Legal Webinar: Offering Tobacco Cessation Programs—Legal Missteps to Avoid
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET
Free to Wellness Alliance members.
Of the various types of wellness programs, offering employees tobacco cessation incentives is still very popular among group health plans. Although federal law permits group health plans to vary premiums based on tobacco use, plans must meet a number of requirements. Meeting these requirements can stump even the largest of employer health plans; numerous Fortune 500 employers have found themselves embroiled in litigation for not adhering to every legal requirement. This webinar will teach attendees how to avoid those missteps and, hopefully, avoid litigation as they seek to reduce employee tobacco use.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the Affordable Care Act wellness incentive rules as they specifically apply to tobacco cessation programs.
- Explain how other employer health plans have found themselves in litigation over their tobacco cessation programs.
- List ways to mitigate risk of a lawsuit involving a tobacco cessation program.
