The Certified Wellness Practitioner™ (CWP™) is the wellness industry’s gold-standard certification. If you’ve explored The Case for Becoming a Certified Wellness Practitioner, you already understand the many benefits this credential brings. Now, it’s time to focus on what comes next—and how to get the most value from your certification.

Opening Doors

The CWP credential gives employers, clients, and colleagues an extra sense of confidence in someone’s knowledge, awareness, and ability to deliver on wellness goals. A CWP is an individual who is qualified to do their work in a holistic way, grounded in science and education. According to Audrey Maydun, CWP, “[It] says: I have invested in myself so that I can better invest in you.” Hear from more professionals on the value of their certification in the video below.

Certified Wellness Practitioners are not only respected by their health and wellness industry peers—but also are increasingly sought after by employers looking to hire those who have their CWP. This certification gives you an advantage when seeking quality jobs that can position you to make a difference in the lives of those you serve. For those seeking top talent, consider making a CWP your next hire—These are the individuals who have proven their wellness competency and are ready and able to successfully build better health for your organization.

Build Community

One great thing about earning your CWP is that it allows you to join a thriving and passionate community of wellness professionals who experience many of the same joys and challenges as you. The Wellness Alliance creates opportunities for you to connect with fellow CWPs through a special online community, as well as dedicated networking spaces at many of our in-person conferences. Gather alongside friendly faces, share strategies, and discover innovative solutions as you continue your professional education.

New: Digital Badging

A recent update for our CWPs is the inclusion of Credly digital badging! This is a secure digital credential that verifies your CWP accomplishment and showcases your skills online—Think of it as a document for the digital age. These badges are verified and sharable, and they help employers quickly see your expertise. All current CWPs have already been given access to their Credly badges. New CWPs will be granted access once they pass the certification exam and their initial certification period begins. Learn more about claiming your badge here.

Recertification

Now that you’ve done the work to earn your CWP, don’t let it go! The recertification process is necessary to maintain your credential as you continue to uphold professional standards. All Certified Wellness Practitioners must recertify every three years to maintain certification and continue promoting their credential publicly.

Recertification requirements include:

  • A total of 30 documented continuing education (CE) credits earned, at least ten of which must be from Category 1 CE activities
  • Payment of the current recertification fee.

Learn more about maintaining your CWP credential here.

Part of Something Bigger

As a CWP, you’re part of a growing community of professionals committed to advancing well-being in thoughtful, evidence-informed ways. Staying connected, continuing your education, and sharing your expertise not only strengthens your own practice, it helps move the entire field forward. However you choose to apply it, your CWP is a powerful tool for creating lasting impact.
