Course Description
Acquire strategies for designing tailored and targeted methods to influence positive holistic change in others by participating in this interactive eLearning course. We explore evidence-based and culturally competent processes to implement person-centered approaches for communication, education, behavior change, and program development.
The Wellness Alliance offers nine e-learning courses intentionally designed to cover foundational topics within the five domains of the Wellness Promotion Competency Model. The researched-based model serves as the standard for the Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP) certification. This is the second of two courses supporting the Whole-Person and Systems Approaches competency domain.
Learning Objectives
- Determine factors (e.g., personal, cultural biases, or values) that can influence an individual’s worldview.
- Recognize major factors of person-centered communication practices.
- Develop communication approaches to tailor messages for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Determine methods to select information for individuals based on content and appropriateness.
- Develop methods to employ culturally relevant wellness education to individuals and the public.
- Define elements outlined in participatory techniques.
- Demonstrate how a strengths-based technique can be used to achieve established objectives and outcomes.
- Describe how applying a humanistic approach can be used to achieve established objectives and outcomes.
- List techniques that support an individual’s autonomy in their personal wellness behaviors.
- Describe how employing a strengths-based, humanistic, or cognitive-behavioral technique can encourage individuals to be active participants in their personal wellness journey.
