Course Description
Learn innovative approaches to increase the effectiveness of wellness programs, practices, and initiatives through inclusive communication and collaboration. We will explore key methods for engaging a variety of stakeholders in strategic communication practices for enhanced connection and well-being. Discover how using the strengths of interdisciplinary teams, organizational development, and communities can lead to better outcomes.
The Wellness Alliance offers nine e-learning courses intentionally designed to cover foundational topics within the five domains of the Wellness Promotion Competency Model. The researched-based model serves as the standard for the Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP) certification. This is the first of two courses supporting the Communication and Connection competency domain.
Learning Objectives
- Define wellness according to the National Wellness Institute/Wellness Alliance.
- Identify approaches that may be used to holistically and inclusively enhance well-being within the three pillars of the Multicultural Wellness Wheel.
- List key reasons a comprehensive wellness strategy can provide value to individuals, organizations, and communities.
- Explain how various elements of organizational or community culture impact well-being.
- List key characteristics of successful and transformational leaders.
- Define what it means to be a self leader.
- Identify key stakeholders and potential partners for wellness initiatives.
- Differentiate between Return on Investment, Value on Investment, and Personal Return on Investment.
- Recognize ways to communicate differently with stakeholders.
- Make the case for wellness initiatives to various stakeholders.
- Identify processes to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Provide an example of how to leverage collaborative relationships among stakeholders, partners, and interdisciplinary teams can influence long-term individual, organizational, and/or community wellness-related goals.
- Identify key benefits and components of a comprehensive and integrated communication strategy.
- List the six basic steps of the Communication Audit process.
- Determine key objectives for communicating about wellness initiatives.
- List characteristics of inclusive communication methods and strategies.
- Identify methods, technologies, and channels to support a comprehensive communication strategy.
